Business support services and provision can be provided through a varied range of organisations and individuals across the public and private sectors. Ribble Valley Borough Council provides a range of in-house support services to businesses. The councils’ Regeneration team are able to advise on a number of issues such as starting-up and business growth topics, support and funding availability, property and land, relocation, as well as planning and legislative issues. As well as this other departments in the council provide further support and advice such as building and development control, regulations, licencing, business rates, health and safety, commercial waste, food hygiene, environmental health and support for tourism, food and hospitality based businesses.
Lancashire County Council has a further range of in house service provision and advice for businesses, covering such things as trading standards, permits and licences, conferencing and training, tenders and procurement, finance, funding and business premises. The county council is also home to the Lancashire Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and stimulating the Lancashire economy is central to both the LEP’s Strategic Economic Plan and its Growth Deal for Lancashire negotiated with Government.
Boost Business Lancashire has been established as the single gateway, or business growth hub, serving local businesses across the county. The support available for businesses covers a broad range of issues including finance, grants, expertise and advice, coaching, mentoring, skills training, funding start-up and growth support. The council works with Growth Lancashire, sharing information and making connections with businesses seeking support. Growth Lancashire delivers key elements of the Lancashire Business Growth Hub, via Boost Business Lancashire.
